“Home is not a place…it’s a feeling.”
After helping my daughter find her first home, the process took on a whole new meaning for me. Funny how when life happens, you are so in it, you don't see it for what it truly means. For me this was the most real Roots & Wings moment of my life thus far.
I have bought and sold a house or two over the years, but nothing that spoke to me like this process. This house would be the culmination of years of hard work. It symbolizes becoming an adult, putting down roots, and finding a place to raise a family. The destination was much more than four walls and a roof over head, it was a feeling. So many feelings!
This is what brought me to Real Estate. I grew up in Englewood, went to Northmont High School and graduated from the University of Dayton in 1993 after a stop at Ohio University, Wright State and Sinclair on my college tour.
I got married, had three kids, moved to Brookville, and while the kids were young, I worked part time in retail, for the airlines, at the Boonshoft museum, and as a substitute teacher, all while running to gyms and fields, dance and scouts and school. The days were crazy and long, but the years were short. Now I understand when they say it all goes so fast. Don't blink!
Flash forward 20 years and my youngest is now a sophomore in college, my middle son on year 4 of a 5 (hopefully)engineering program, both at the University of Cincinnati. My daughter graduated from UC and now lives in her own home in Cincinnati with her sweet little family that includes my granddaughter, who is just the cutest little spunky 1 1/2 year old that you will ever want to meet. (I might be a bit biased).
So, here I am with an empty NEST and time on my hands. What next? I was looking for inspiration- and I FOUND IT.
There is no better feeling or bigger joy than to help someone find their first home, their next home when they are bursting at the seams, or are downsizing when the kids fly the coop.. and/or anything in between.
If I can help you, or any of your friends or family, "Find your NEST" please reach out anytime.
We will work together to find the place that feels like HOME.
